Spanglish
"Spanglish"
Spanglish is a combination between Mexicans and Americans. Sincerely I HATED the ending of this movie. I was wishing for more than an unfinished ending with lots of gaps. It has a great beginning, a middle with all the problems presented and the combination of cultures. Also, how in the movie show a person learning English to understand, meanwhile she doesn’t understand anything, and just tries to communicate with expression, hand signs, even when she must ask for helps with her daughter. Lovely Flor was a remarkable character, that represented us when we don’t know any English, and how dedicated we can be when we want to learn something. This movie had lots of meanings, from the two scenarios between Spanish and English, from how Flor Daughter impact as meeting another lifestyle, from Deborah infidelity and the way she treated her daughter and Flor’s daughter and don’t forget the love between Flor and John. This movie has a great message to send.
With
reference to the translation, I absolutely think it’s an oblique translation,
with all its different categories but mostly the composition and the
explicative translation. The translation in the subtitles were contextualized
with all the spoken in English. It has lots of details, and specifications. Mostly
because it’s a movie that has a combination e=in English and Spanish. The creator
had to in their culture, and their history.
My
favorite scene was when Flor reclaimed to Mr. Clasky for giving lots of movie
to Flor’s daughter, that is a great scene that represents the translation
perfectly. How Flor says everything in Spanish and her daughter says everything
in English. Her translation is specific and contextualized. Flor’s daughter uses
a translation oblique, where she really says all the words that her mom wants
her to say. It’s not literal translation but as you hear you almost imagen it
is. It’s a great scene, as Flor’s daughter says everything in English, she is reflecting
the same expression her mom is reflecting, that is mostly why you think it's
real. She might change some words to complete the phrases be it the minimal.
