"Strargate, puerta a las estrellas" (1994)
This movie was really interest even though it's a really old movie, I'm saying this because of all the scene, it didn't look like the actual movie now a day. Also, it looked so unrealistic. The main characters are, Dr. Daniel Jackson who os the translator and the guy that know all about the hieroglyphic, one that could decipher the code, the second main character was Coronel Jonathan, who was the one in charge and for last the bad guy in the story was the alien, called Ra, who was the enemy of the story. This movie is a story where they travel through time and get to another dimension. Here they find another civilization that speak another language. There were 5 different language that were used in the movie which were English, which was used when they were on earth, studying the hieroglyphics, trying to get the code to open the portal, Arabic, Swedish, Norwegian and Egyptians Language, that came out after they had already transported to the other dimension.
The movie was a bit difficult to understood because of the languages, while they were with the other civilization, the characters had some negative transfer, because they did speak the same languages, so they had to find the way to communicate, doing hand movement's, showing objects, or pointing to something for them to understand and visualize. Also, in some since, the new civilization imitated the coronel Jonathan. There were some translation errores which were when Dr, Daniel said, "Can I borrow this" as he realizes how he could get the code out and he takes the newspaper from the guardian, in the subtitles, it translates it as "Me lo llevo" that literally shows want he is doing in the scene. Another frases shown is "I'm not sure" that if we translate it, it means "no estoy seguro" but on the subtitles is es shown like "No se", it is using an oblique translation as it adapts to what it's doing and showing in the scene. Also, it could also be considered as a translation error. My last phrase I found was, "Were in fact" that literally only translate as one word in the subtitles as "Eran" as we translated literal, in Spanish it means "fueron de hecho" that if we put that in subtitles, I won't make any sense, so that why they use words that adapt to the movies.
This movie was really difficult to understand in some scene because of the different language, and also because when they spook on another languages, the subtitle didn't work. So, in some parts you only had to pay attention to what was happing on the scenes. If you are an Egypt love, you will like this movie.
